We spent a lot of time in Standing Forward Bend (Uttanasana). It is one of my absolute favourites, and in times of stress or uncertainty I often find myself throwing myself forward: letting worries pour out through the crown of my head while gathering the grounding energy of the earth in through my feet which always seems to repenish, center and calm.
We move through this posture so often as we salute the sun, and yet it is only when we take a minute or two to drop our head, rest and surrender to gravity that tensions in the shouder blades, shoulders, neck and head are gently released. It is a wonderful posture for stress and anxiety relief, and a simple, beautiful way of taking a new perpective on lifes challenges and problems.
