Blustery April days make the perfect opportunity for outsideplay, cosy reads and plenty of chocolate!
Irrespective of the impending Storm Dave over the Easter Weekend, as April has approached a well-needed sense of Spring has landed at Margaret's Blanket HQ.
The acid green buds of new growth and delicate white blossom of the plum tree have bravely burst forth into the still somewhat mixed weather, and the rush of optimism at the longer days gives pause to wonder what the month will bring.
While we are still dodging showers and April breezes, however, we have plenty to indulge in indoors besides Easter eggs and the M&S Scrummy Bunny Munch tin!
Take a look at what we are watching, reading and listening to this April.
What We're Watching
BBC - The Other Bennet Sister.
For lovers of a bit of 18th century romance, this series has played a blinder. With bookish wallflower Mary Bennet taking centre stage in this adaptation of Janice Hadlow's novel, The Other Bennet Sister, I think we can all relate in some way to Mary's tussle with the dichotomy between self and society. Humour, family and the hope that things will work out make this a real treat for Jane Austen fans everywhere.

The Artemis Space Launch
We just so happened to be camping out in our garage on the night of the Artemis launch causing huge excitement among the kids who rushed immediately to the roof windows to see if they could see it!
With the world so heavy with news of wars and political tensions just now, following Artemis seems to have be a welcome diversion.
At Cinemas - The Magic Faraway Tree
A magical adaptation of the classic Enid Blyton novel, The Enchanted Wood. Fans of the books will be delighted with this visually stunning film. Check out our full review

What We're Listening to...
By Ash, Oak and Thorn by Melissa Harrison on Audible
This lovely gentle children's book tells the story of Cumulus, Moss and Burnett - Hidden Folk who are about as tall as your hand is high - when they are forced to leave their beloved Ash tree after it blows down in a storm. On their perilous journey - aided by blackbirds and foxes and deer - they start to learn about their place in the natural world in a race to save their friend. An absolutely beautiful story that I currently listen to while I walk the dog. FREE for Audible members.
