🍋 Recipe - Easy Homemade Lemonade
Makes: About 4 cups (1 small pitcher)
Prep time: 10 minutes
Kid-friendly, budget-friendly, and super refreshing.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons, depending on size & juiciness)
- ½ to ¾ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 cups cold water
- Ice (to serve)
- Optional: lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish
Instructions
Roll & Press the Lemons
Roll each lemon on the counter with your palm to soften it (this helps get more juice out). Cut in half and use your manual lemon press to squeeze out the juice. Strain out seeds, but pulp is fine if you like it!
Make the Lemon Base
In a jug, mix the fresh lemon juice and sugar. Stir well until the sugar is mostly dissolved. You can use a spoon or a small whisk. (Pro tip: Dissolving sugar in warm water first makes this easier if your sugar's being stubborn.)
Add Cold Water
Pour in the cold water and give it another good stir. Taste and adjust:
* Too tart? Add a bit more sugar.
* Too sweet? Splash in more water or an extra squeeze of lemon.
Chill & Serve
Add ice to glasses or jug. Garnish with lemon slices or a sprig of mint if you're feeling fancy.
Optional Variations:
Strawberry Lemonade: Blend a handful of strawberries and stir in before chilling.
Sparkling Lemonade: Use half water, half sparkling water.
Herbal Twist: Steep a bag of mint or chamomile tea in ½ cup of boiling water, let it cool, and mix it in for a subtle flavor boost.
This lemonade is perfect for after-school snacks, weekend lunches, or just pretending it’s still summer. Keep it in the fridge and enjoy for a few days—if it lasts that long!
