I have always tried to be a healthy eater but, to be honest, sometimes I struggle - especially when I am exhausted, which has been pretty often since heading well into my late third trimester of pregnancy.
Carrying our beauiful baby-to-be however has really spurred me on to make sensible food choices and when I discovered the CLEAN & GREEN EATING APP for my iPhone I was immediately impressed with the selection of healthy, quick and super simple recipes.
Costing £1.99 from the Apple Store (although it's available on Android too) the app is broken down into really easy to navigate sections offering recipe options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as things like biscuits and deserts when you are craving a sweet treat. There are loads of really nutritious smoothie recipes in there too which I find really useful for those days when inspiration is somewhat lacking, and I love that having it on my phone means that I don't have to wade through cookery books looking for something healthy to eat. It also looks amazing which makes it a real treat to use too!
The app offers more than just recipes however and is all based around making it as easy as possible for the user to eat 'clean and green'.
The Shopping List section allows you to create, - well, as you would expect - a shopping list based on the recipes in the app and means it is super handy for trips to the supermarket. It has the added function of sorting your shopping into where it thinks it would be in the shop too meaning you don't have to jump back and forward through your list which for me is a god send: I am continually up and down supermarket aisles picking up things I had forgotten on the first run around.
There is also an 'On-Hand' function which searches through the recipes based on what you already have in your cupboards.
I have been using this app for while now and although I obviously have a few favourite recipes every single one of them offers a really nutritious and tasty meal or snack. It is so handy to have something like this in my pocket and for those with specific dietary requirements - dairy, gluten, meat or nut free, for example - there is a really easy way to filter recipes so that only relevant ones show up.
New Year is always a time when people are looking for the latest new fitness or diet fad but rather than offering an unsustainable eating plan, this app is a fantastic resource for those looking to change their eating habits and adopt a healthy lifestyle. I know I will be certainly sticking with it once little one arrives and the desire to shed those extra pounds kicks in!
You can find out more about the Clean & Green Eating app at their website.
Thanks, I haven't heard of this app before but it does look useful and like it would make it easier to eat healthy
