If, like me, you have rather 'bouncy' young children then Emma Carlisle's picture book, Lion Practice is sure to be a hit.
Telling the tale of a little girl Lucy who just loves practicing to be a crocodile, kangaroo and then a big noisy, pouncing LION - ROAAAARRR - and her exasperated mother, who tries (unsuccessfully ) to encourage her to be something somewhat quieter, like a mouse, it is a lovely easy story of play, imagination, parental guilt and connection.
As well as a storytime favourite, this book is also a fantastic tool to encourage movement and early years drama and improvisation. Our littles love to pretend to bounce and squark and roar along with it giving us all a good giggle too.
