BOB Books, Beginning Readers - Bobby Lynn Maslen

If you guys, like us, have a child at the very beginning of their reading journey, I really can't recommend this little set of Bob Books more highly. 

They are written for children who are only starting to learn their first phonics and to blend sounds with all of the short stories made up of three letter words and short key sight words. 

The first book in the series, Mat, is made up of only four sounds (m, s, a and t)  with subsequent books adding more sounds in, gently building up vocabulary and reading stamina.

 

After having a dig about online, I was really keen to find some early reading books that would give our child the confidence that comes with being able to say, "I read a whole book Mummy!" and these have done just that! Used alongside our 4 year olds school syllabus and the literacy homework that she is set each night, these books have been fabulous for giving her a real sense of achievement as she decodes new words and sounds.
